"Spanish Sling". 31.5 kg bitch, had last start at Bulli 7/7/18, From a top litter, but has re- injured bottom of back muscle after being sidelined for six months with same injury. I live in Canberra do not have the facilities to breed myself and with the new ACT greyhound legislation, regretibly is not feasible for me keep "Elle". Allen Jake had a calf injury and has had a couple months off but is strong on the mend.
John Banner (Adelaide) who was going to take Jake is taking too long to move on another dog(s) that he was planning to. The dogs are not racing anymore, but he is the sort of old timer that always does the right things by the dogs and he is awaiting to find the perfect home for them to retire to, or for SA GAP to accept them.
So over the past month, Jake has been up at Euroa on a property in a big yard. (approx. half acre in size) during the day and in a kennel at night. So he has been running around and enjoying himself, maintaining a level of fitness. His calf is not causing him any issues at all, however he is not chasing a lure obviously, just running up and down when other dogs are in the paddock next to him.
I had organised for a southern NSW trainer (Barb Katon) to take Allen Jake. Also Merv Pinney is also interested up that way. Both of these trainers are very experienced and will be more than capable of managing Jakes calf and monitoring it.
